Motivation comes and goes. That’s why discipline is more powerful.
Discipline is always there. No matter the circumstance, no matter how you feel, no matter if you want to do something or not.
Discipline is knowing what you must do, even if you don’t want to do it, and then doing it.
Motivation is emotional and exciting, but rarely happens.
Many people think motivation sparks discipline, but it’s the other way around.
But when you get motivation and you start to feel momentum, you must take advantage of that.
I typically go to bed around 9pm.
I was laying down around that time last night and felt motivation. I felt emotionally geared up.
So I got up and worked out for two hours, finished work, and got started on a new project.
Then I woke up this morning to finish another 6.5 mile run.
Last night was motivation. This morning was discipline.
Let both of them work for you and never slow down when you’re feeling momentum.
