After much deliberation, I’ve selected my word of the year for 2025.
EXPAND
I chose this word for many reasons:
First, it just feels right – go with your gut, right?
Second, remember I’ve been prompted to find a word for 2025 through my job (great exercise). In my job, I am now in charge of expanding accounts. So seems fitting to have that be a focus as my livelihood depends on my ability to do just that.
But as I sat and think about everything required to expand an account, so much came to mind:
- Provide value
- Be patient
- Be present
- Think critically
- Connect with people
- Grow & develop my mindset and skillsets
- Much more
Then, as I began to think about how that relates to my personal life, it really struck a chord how relevant this is to me right now.
There is a lot of change for me this year: getting married, buying a house, and more.
I have felt like the last few years of my life, while I have grown, developed, learned, and challenged myself, I still have a lot of the same thoughts, behaviors, and habits.
This year, I want to expand more than I ever have. In the way I think about God, in the way I think about relationships, in the way I think about finances, everything.
To expand I’ll have to break down and test my existing thoughts. I’ll have to create new routines and habits. I’ll have to get back to a growth mindset, not a fixed.
2025 is about expanding my capabilities, my ownership, my love, my happiness.

Potential
