New Beginnings

A new beginning is a time of novelty.

Many people start a new beginning from a time of low:

  • sobriety after hitting rock bottom
  • working out after looking in the mirror in disgust
  • a new job after hating their manager

All positive things to put yourself in the right direction.

The thing about new beginnings though is that those around you might now be on that same fresh, new beginning that you are on.

  • if you’re going sober and know you can be different, those that you hurt will take time and may never forgive you because of what you done
  • if you start working out and focusing on your health, people might give you odd looks when you turn down snacks or even your family might hate it because they don’t get to find comfort with you in eating junk food together
  • if you start a new job, a new manager or coworker might not understand your experience and how much you’ve done, so they’ll give you work you’re more qualified in and you’ll have to prove yourself, even though you were the victim of shitty management

I guess my point here is that when you make a change that you have the most conviction around, you can’t expect everyone to understand why or understand in general.

You have to have so much conviction and belief in it that no matter what life throws at you, you stay strong and stay the course.

Just starting a new beginning doesn’t simply lead to all being well.

Loose ends need tying.

Hurt needs mending.

Relationships need nurturing.

That’s life.

Is the change you are making or want to make worth it?
