In every situation and moment as of late, things have felt so serious. So heavy.
The stakes seem incredibly high, that every moment feels like ‘the moment.’
I’ve felt myself becoming more rigid, more emotionless, more inwardly retrospective.
Given the circumstances, these are not surprising or totally unnecessary feelings.
I feel as if it would be odd if I didn’t feel this way.
But I look back to the last few weeks and think to myself, what does life look like if these feelings continue to be the way I live life?
And that scares me.
The reality is that I was living as a child. Thinking that life would go on forever.
But now, given my father’s passing and my recent health findings (see Wake Up Call), that naivety has been shattered.
From Will of the Many (great book), “children know we’re going to die, but adults believe it.”
So with this, while the stakes are definitely high, the biggest challenge I have is looking at mortality in the face with a smile, and continuing to live life with hope, love, fun, and light.
